In Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck fish and chips are practically a religion. Good fish and chips don’t just have to be fresh they have to be part of a community gathering whether that gathering is a Friday fish fry or locals enjoying a meal at their favorite restaurant.
We asked for your favorite places to grab fish and chips in Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck and got some expected and some unexpected.
We’ve loved reading your comments on Stonington-Mystic Patch as well as the comments posted on Stonington Patch Facebook, but only one fish and chips place can be the Best of 2012.

Big Y: an unexpected late nomination once Chris Spelman told people they had to try it others remember how good their fish and chips are. “Chris Spelman—you are spot-on!” Patch user wrote. “I had forgotten about Big Y's fish & chips. I couldn’t believe how good it was. The standard is tilapia, but you can order haddock for $1 more.”
