Patch's Poll: Real Christmas Tree Or Fake?

Do you go with the scent of pine and needles everywhere, or the no-fuss modern-day artificial Christmas tree? Take our poll!

My husband loves to tell the story of his family's childhood Christmas ritual in which his father would lug the fake Christmas tree down from the attic, painstakingly attach all the branches to the trunk, step back to admire his work and ... realize he had put them in upside down.

Of course, my family's ritual was only slightly different, in that our struggles involved a tree we had cut down ourselves. Squeezing it through the front door, trying desperately to get it into the stand, often drilling it into the wall to keep it standing, and then still watching in slow-motion horror as it tipped over - fully decorated - onto the floor.

Which route does your family take? Take our poll and share your favorite Christmas tree catastrophe story in the comments!

When I had a place to plant them, real trees were best. At times we cut a real one down, from the side of the road, if it was perishing from exhaust fumes, this was represented by it's yellowing branches. We would turn them to the wall, decorate the heck out of the poor tree and gave it a decent send off filled with holiday joy. I always made pine pillows out of the fallen dried needles and scented my draws all year, and kept the bugs away too!...now I have a 3 foot tall artificial tree..the decorations still look grand!

CATastrophe.. that's it...a beautiful Kitten, so fluffy and sweet! Set on climbing up the tree to chase a 80 year old family heirloom bulb...It's Shiny! It moves in the light, it's so Pretty... then before I could do a thing, it and half of my families ornaments were smashed into the baby grand piano in the parlor..in one little jump...they are only things...we loved that cat for many years...

Merry Christmas to you, George, and many more. I do have the Christmas spirit, I just don't have a tree because a) I have cats and b) because I am alone, I usually go elsewhere for Christmas.
