Raising Hope, Ben and Kate, The Mindy Project

TV tips for Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.

Raising Hope, 8 p.m., Fox

And so my sitcom world is complete with this return tonight, and I am doubly excited because Melanie Griffith is cast as Sabrina’s mom. I know, right? “At the funeral for Sabrina's grandmother, Nana, the Chance family meets Tamara (Melanie Griffith), Sabrina's mother; Nana's last will and testament has a significant impact on Sabrina and Jimmy's relationship.”

Ben and Kate, 8:30 p.m., Fox

I liked the premiere enough to keep watching, but I have to admit I find both Ben and Kate a little annoying. It’s like that Jennifer Aniston movie that you can never remember the name of, but you end up watching it every time you bump into it while channel-surfing.

The Mindy Project, 9:30 p.m., Fox

Did you think Bridesmaids was funny? I didn’t. I thought it was almost as sad as Sophie’s Choice. I find this ‘sitcom’ to be in exactly the same category. Not funny. Sad.
