Suburgatory, The Middle, The X Factor

TV tips for Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012

Suburgatory, 9:30 p.m., ABC

Loved this last year and we ended with a cliffhanger, as Tessa’s grandmother arrived. When we begin tonight, Tessa will be back after spending the summer with Grannie, and from what I’ve read, Mom is in our future.  Tonight, “Tessa returns to Chatswin after spending summer with her grandmother; George finds Tessa's renewed interest in her mother threatening; Tessa signs up for the Fall Follies; Noah and Dallas compete for Carmen.”

The Middle, 8 p.m., ABC

After a rocky debut for the season, last week was completely uproarious from start to finish. Whichever special effects guy made the bunny snarl deserves a raise. Tonight, “A neighbor accuses Frankie of stealing her hose; Sue cancels a road trip to Cincinnati after seeing Mike's paycheck; Brick learns about the birds and the bees.”

The X Factor, 8 p.m., Fox

I loved how bored Marc Anthony was through all the group performances last week. And I loved how he flat out admitted it. I am convinced Demi Lovato’s ‘home’ is a soundstage, and I kept getting the feeling that everyone at Britney’s ‘house’ was sitting in front of a green screen. Tonight, we lose some contestants. I have no clear favorite yet.
