Man Arrested At West Vine Street School Friday Morning

No students were in proximity of the arrest and school started as normal

Norman Riley, of 21 Huntington Street in New London was arrested early Friday morning at West Vine Street School in Pawcatuck.

West Vine Street School parents received an automated phone call around 10 a.m. alerting them of the arrest and stating that no students were in proximity of the arrest and school started as normal.

Stonington Police Captain Jerry Desmond said students were never in any danger. According to Desmond, Riley was arrested on an active warrant stemming from an October 28 incident that happened elsewhere in town.

Riley was charged with second-degree breach of peace, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with emergency personnel.
