Mystic A&P Liquor Store Burglarized; One Suspect Caught, One on the Loose

Washington D.C. man charged; held on $500,000 bond.

According to Stonington Police Capt. Jerry Desmond, the Mystic A&P Liquor Store was burglarized in the predawn hours Monday. Desmond said Stonington patrol officers responded to an alarm activation at 3:17 a.m. and encountered two suspects; police were able to "take one down," but the other fled.

The Stonington police detective division is investigating, Desmond said.

Police captured, arrested and charged 21-year-old Delonte J. Stevenson of 5126 Hanna Place, Washington D.C. His alleged accomplice is at large.

Stevenson was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny and possessions of burglary tools. He was immediately held on $500,000 bond but was transported  and will be presented in criminal court today, Desmond said.

"I want to commend patrol for a great response and apprehension," Desmond said.

The case is still under investigation.
