Now's Your Chance To See The Governor's Mansion

The Prospect Street residence will be part of the 8th Annual Connecticut Open House Day on Saturday, June 9.

 

The elegant Governor's Residence on Prospect Street in Hartford has been added to the hundreds of tourist attractions open to the public at free or reduced prices on Connecticut Open House Day, Saturday, June 9.

The annual event, run by the Connecticut Office of Tourism, offers admission to more than 200 arts, history or tourism attractions throughout the state. The full list is available on the state's tourism website.

“Connecticut Open House Day provides an excellent opportunity for residents to participate in the state’s new brand campaign, ‘Still Revolutionary,’ which highlights the rich history, culture and innovation that makes our state unique, beautiful and full of inspiration,” Malloy said in a news release.  “In addition to the Governor’s Residence, we’re proud to announce that museums, galleries, theaters, vineyards, shops and historic properties from throughout the state will be participating.  I encourage everyone to check out the full list of the participating attractions on the state’s tourism website, CTvisit.com, and take advantage of the day.”

Docents will offer tours of the Governor's Residence at 990 Prospect Ave., Hartford, and garden clubs will provide the floral decorations. Some history on the Governor's Residence is available on the governor's website.
