Stonington Republicans Pick McAnanly Running Mate

Former first selectman Bill Brown gets the nod.

Stonington Republicans have selected former first selectman Bill Brown to be the running mate of Glee McAnanaly, a Republican challenger to First Selectman Edward Haberek, Jr. who is a democrat.

Brown served 20 years on the Board of Selectmen, three of them as first selectman, according to a report in The Day. Brown has devoted the last four years to renovating the Westerly Library but now that the project is complete, he hopes to return to Stonington politics.

Brown told The Day that, if elected, “he would pursue state and federal grant money as he successfully did for projects such as Donahue Park and the Robert Granato Senior Center.”
