8:18 p.m.: The board of education called the public back into the meeting room. No decisions have been made regarding the calendar or collective bargaining. However, the board approved a motion to hold a meeting on the school calendar on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m., at a location still to be determined.
8:12 p.m.: Still waiting outside the meeting room. A couple of students are here too doing their homework while the wait to see what if any decision is made.
7:51 p.m.: We’re still waiting outside the meeting room. One teacher who is retiring at the end of this year said she came out tonight because she does not think the board went about making the decision in the right away. She is going to stay here and wait to see what if anything the board does.
7:36 p.m.: We’re still waiting outside. Stonington police officer wants to know why parents just don’t keep their kids home? A parent responds that it’s the principal of thing and she is here to support the teachers as well.
7:24 p.m.: There are now two Stonington police officer outside the meeting room. One wants to know if people want April vacation restored. Parents and teachers respond yes. He says he doesn’t read the paper and didn't know what the meeting was about.
7:20 p.m.: There is still a group of people standing outside the meeting room, although a few have left. One parent says that she would like to see the board return April vacation to what it was supposed to be, but doubts the board will.
7:03 p.m.: Parents, teachers and press politely file out. We've been asked to stay in the second half of the hallway away from the Stonington Board of Education meeting room. A Stonington police officer requested no one yells at him. So far no one has.
7:00 p.m.: Meeting begins with pledge of allegiance followed by a motion to adjourn to executive session.
6:55 p.m.: About a dozen teachers and parents are outside the Stonington Public Schools administrative building. They said they will sit in on the meeting until they are kicked out and hang around after to see if any decision will be made.
6:45 p.m.: A handful of people many of them teachers are waiting in the Stonington Board of Education meeting room for the 7 p.m. meeting to begin.
