The CT Film Training Program Trains Residents To Work On Professional Films And TV Shows.

"Quiet on set!"

For a few weeks this summer, a Quinnipiac University-owned house is being turned into a film set courtesy of the CT Film Industry Training Program

The program, which is in its fourth year at Quinnipiac University, was started to generate work for Connecticut residents and to assist the many Hollywood films now shot in state.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (with Harrison Ford), "Righteous Kill" (with Robert De Niro) and "The Life Before Her Eyes" (with Uma Thurman) are just a few recent blockbusters that were filmed in the Nutmeg State.

With each new film that shoots in Connecticut, more crew members are needed. The program takes applicants of all ages and trains them to work on a feature film or episodic television.

This year's program has 65 participants from towns throughout the state.

Applicants can choose what field they wish to study—costumes, assistant director, set dressing, location manager, among others—and then learn that trade during the program.

At the end of the training, each discipline comes together to shoot an original film which is entered into film festivals and is shown online.
