Schools Proposed Budget Includes 4 Percent Increase
In part because of state mandated educator evaluations, more personnel are needed.
According to a report in The Westerly Sun, Stonington schools Superintendent Van Riley says state mandates are largely responsible for the 4 percent increase over last year represented in his proposed $30.5 million 2014-2015 schools budget.
Stonington Board of Education 2014-2015 budget sessions will be held every Thursday over the next four weeks; Jan. 16, 23, 30 and Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Stonington High School Commons.
Riley is endorsing the addition of assistant principals at the high school and middle schools to, in part, help with state-mandated educator evaluations, according to the Sun story.
