The Stonington Board of Education will meet tonight to discuss some of the issues surrounding their decision to .
The special meeting at the board of education meeting room will begin with a call to order and the pledge of allegiance before the board goes into closed session. The meeting was scheduled at the request of the Stonington teachers union.
According to The Day the Union is requesting the board and union “negotiate issues affecting teachers surrounding the change in the school calendar.” Stonington Public School teachers will also ask the board to reconsider its decisions to eliminate three days from April vacation.
Stonington Public Schools released Monday afternoon and expect 175.5 staff absences and will need 161.5 substitutes.
There is no time for public comment scheduled on the meeting but time for a potential motion regarding negotiations between the union and board is scheduled.
