It's been a year of personnel changes at Stonington Public Schools. This morning Stonington Public Schools Director of Special Services Ginny Brown announced she was resigning and taking a position at Guilford Public Schools. Brown has worked within the Stonington Public Schools system for 13 years and is also one of the owners of The Global Child.
Here is a copy of a letter she sent out:
Dear Colleagues and Friends of the Stonington Schools,
I am writing to you all this morning with mixed emotions. After 13 years in Stonington working in a variety of positions, I will be leaving Stonington to embrace a new chapter and opportunity. I have most recently accepted a position in the Guilford Public Schools as the Director of Pupil Personnel.
As you all know, the Stonington schools and Stonington community have always been and will always be dear to my heart. I have enjoyed immensely working with each and everyone of you. I have been so lucky to work in so many different capacities in Stonington and to have worked so closely with so many of you in the schools, on committees, in professional learning opportunities, and accomplishing the day-to-day work and I thank you!
Over the next few weeks, I will be working to support the transition in Stonington and am dedicated to assisting in order to make this transition as smooth as possible to continue Stonington's movement forward.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with love and joy shared with family and friends.
All my very best,
Ginny Brown
In May, Superintendent Leanne Masterjoseph resigned unexpectedly. She had been superintendent since 2010. Masterjoseph took a position as the Chief Academic Officer for Family Urban Schools of Excellence in Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Van Riley replaced Masterjoseph in October.
