Bears' Kane Signs Letter of Intent to Play Softball for Georgetown

Stonington's standout leadoff hitter and pitcher will play outfield for the NCAA Division I Hoyas.

Theresa Kane was all smiles Wednesday as she signed a national letter of intent to play softball for Georgetown University on Wednesday at Stonington High School.

Kane, who is entering her senior season for the Bears in the spring, chose Georgetown over more than a dozen other schools offering scholarships. At Georgetown, she will get a maximum — but not full — scholarship, but she told The Westerly Sun that she "went down and just had that ‘feeling’ when I got on that campus."

"Theresa has grown into a great young lady," said Stonington softball coach Ann-Marie Houle. "She has been a great role model for her teammates and deserves any accolades she receives.

"She will impact Georgetown as an outfielder right from the start."
