Household Chores Cure: Let 50 Cent do the Dusting!

How I lighten my mood when doing my least favorite chores.

Every woman out there has a daily list of things that need to be done around the house. I realize that men have their "honey-do" lists, but really I'm speaking to the ladies at the moment.

I just hate doing the dishes, mainly because I actually have to wash them myself. That's right, I have no dishwasher; haven't had one in over 8 years. All that extra time spent in the kitchen wears me down. It also makes me start to freak out a little when I'm cooking and dirtying more dishes.

Some women hate to cook. For me, this isn't the case. I enjoy cooking when I have the time to do it. During the week when I am working, I stick to very easy recipes that my children will both like, and that don't require too much prep work. On the weekends, I experiment with new recipes and of course love eating what I cook.

For others, laundry is the nemesis. Folding it and putting it away is a slow eternal death.  I also know women that hate dusting and vacuuming …the list goes on and on. Household chores can definitely be exhausting. What's worse is that once you finish, you have to do it all over again the next day.

So ladies, I have found my cure for the hell that can be household chores.

I send the kids somewhere to color or do a craft, really anything that's going to keep them quietly occupied for an hour or so, and I blast some dance music. That's right. I turn the Schrage household into Club Schrage. I cook with Katie Perry, I fold laundry with Taio Cruz, wash the dishes with LMFAO, and I am not afraid to admit that when the kids are not in the house, I vacuum and dust with 50 Cent.

The music lightens my mood, eases my anxiety, and before I know it, the chores are complete.  It could work with any type of music you love. Whatever puts you in the best mood to plug through the task at hand. Try it! It may work for you, too.

Now you'll have to excuse me, I’m hanging with J-Lo. She's going to help me make cupcakes for my son's birthday party tomorrow.

While I'm all for the values that the Ten Commandments gives us, I also don't want to be defenselessRead More because someone who chooses not to follow them is putting my life in danger. The Right to Bear Arms was created by men, for the purpose of the people of this country having a means to defend ourselves from people who mean us harm, or from a government who might seek to take away our arms for nefarious purposes. A very great man once said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it." Just out of curiosity, if someone were to invade your home, and attack you and your family, putting your lives in danger, what would you be willing to do to defend your lives?

Who gave us this right to bear arms? Men. The only God given law was the Ten Commandments. One ofRead More them explicitly says "Thou shall not kill."

I agree. The bottom line is we're all defenseless if we are deprived of our right to bear arms. GunRead More restrictions do nothing to prevent criminals from getting and using guns. They simply impede law-abiding citizens from getting and using them to defend ourselves from the criminals. I don't want to be stuck at a gunfight with nothing more than a cell phone camera.
