Highway crew keep on plowing

High tide causing some street flooding in downtown Mystic.

Police are towing parked cars, that not only violate town law, but make it difficult for plows to do their job.

Friday morning update from First Selectman Ed Haberek

Today's forecast calls for a slight chance of snow before 11 a.m., with lots of blowing snow after noon. The high today will be 15 with wind chills as low as -5 given we'll have blustery, north winds up to 20 MPH with gusts to near 40.

Called Bethany by some Connecticut meteorologists  and Hercules by the Weather Channel, the National Weather Service keeps it simple just calling this a winter storm.

Watch Those Ice Missiles!

Oh, and FYI: There's a new law that requires Connecticut residents to clean the snow off their vehicles, or face a fine.

Alerts

Stonington Police have issued a parking ban. Here's the statement from SPD Capt. Jerry Desmond: "As tonight’s storm approaches, we will have a parking ban in effect from this afternoon through Friday evening. This will allow our the state and our highway departments to plow effectively and efficiently.  Parking will not be allowed on the streets until after the storm has finished and the roads have been plowed. Vehicles not removed from the roadways will be ticketed and or towed."
