What's Up This Week in Stonington?

Books for kids, band music, Christmas carols, town business and more.

The Stonington Free Library's first Winter Reading Challenge, called 50 To Grow On, begins Monday, Dec. 2. Featuring 40 books every parent should read to their child; the other 10 are up to you! Sign up at the library to get your list and reading log. Stickers and a prize if all 50 are read. It's a free program for ages 7 and under and runs through March 28th.

Also on Monday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Stonington Police Department community room, the PZC’s Plan of Conservation and Development subcommittee keeps hammering away at the 2014 draft of the document that lays out the town’s future. Tonight, among other chapters, is a discussion about natural resources.

And while we're on the municipal subject, the Board of Finance meets Wednesday Dec. 4 at 7, also SPD community room, with an agenda that includes a look at the policy for use of town-owned vehicles and a discussion on BOE ‘special accounts for revue.’

Don’t forget about the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center’s Adopt-A-Family holiday program. There’s definitely still time to ‘adopt’ a family in need. And this week is a great time to do it!

Why all need so music in our lives, so check out the Pawcatuck Middle School band concert Tuesday. Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. We’re predicting some holiday tunes!
