The Stonington Borough Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for the preservation and enhancement of the boroughMore through zoning regulations. The office is located in the Borough of Stonington Hall on Church Street. The borough assessor, administrative assistant and clerk are also housed here. Planning and Zoning Commissions are held at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of each month.

The Planning Department is responsible for preservation and development of the town through land use and zoning. TheMore department maintains records of meeting agendas and minutes from all of the town's land use commissions and applications for zoning and land use.</p> <p>The department also offers administrative support to the town's land use boards and commissions including the Conservation Commission, Inland Wetland and Watercourse Commission, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Plan of Conservation and Development Implementation Committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals.</p> <p>William R. Haase is the director of planning. The department is located on Elm Street inside town hall.</p>

The Borough Board of Warden and Burgesses consists of seven elected members: the warden and six burgesses. The BoardMore of Warden and Burgesses meets every third Monday of the month at 7:30pm in Borough Hall.</p> <p>The Board of Warden and Burgesses govern the Borough. They are responsible for appointing members to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as creating ordinances and preparing the Borough budget. The Board of Warden and Burgesses operates out of Borough Hall, along with the administrative assistant and zoning officer.</p>
