Brief Biography: Jeffrey Callahan has been a borough resident for 13 years and is the current Burgess Public Buildings Commissioner. He is the Director of Facilities and Operations at URI Narragansett Bay Campus, has a doctorate in physical oceanography from The John Hopkins University and a bachelor's in physics from the US Naval Academy.

Callahan and his wife are active in a number of local organizations including the Stonington Historical Society, Avalonia Land Conservancy, Stonington Village Improvement Association and James Merrill House.

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?
To help keep the borough functioning.

What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? Streets and other infrastructure.

How long have you lived in the borough?
19 years, plus 13 in Old Mystic.

What’s your favorite thing about the borough?
The sense of community.

Where do you work and what is your job title? 
Director of Facilities and Operations, URI Narragansett Bay Campus

What’s been the biggest success of the borough government over the past two years?
Paying off most of the debt incurred during the firehouse project.

What’s been the biggest failure?
The inability to repair more streets for lack of funds.
