Daily Five: Flu Clinic Today

Five things to know for Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013

1. Ledge Light Health District is holding a flu shot clinic today, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. The flu shot clinic will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m., at the Ledge Light Health District building at 216 Broad Street in New London.

Ledge Light has a limited supply of flu mist left and the clinic is first come first serve. Flu shots cost $15 and Medicare Part B, Anthem Blue Cross and ConnectiCare insurance plans will be accepted. The flu mist is free for children between the ages of two and 18.

2. The Stonington Free Library is holding a Drop In Story Time for ages two to six today at 10:30 a.m. Stop by for story time with books, finger plays and songs.

3. Applications for the Women’s Club Memorial Scholarships are due Feb. 1, 2013. To obtain an application package contact the Mystic Woman’s Club at 860-536-0912. To be eligible for the Phipps Scholarship, applicants must have completed two or more years at an institution of higher learning toward a bachelor's or other advanced degree, maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average. Applicants for the Dorothy Schoelzel Memorial Scholarship must have completed three years at an accredited institution of higher learning, enrolled in a bachelor's, post-graduate, or return-to-college program, maintaining a 3.0 or higher grad point average. The scholarship is limited to those studying for a degree in the field of education.
