Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect Until 11 AM

There are reports of flooding throughout Mystic, Stonington and Pawcatuck

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flooding advisory for the area until 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec., 27, 2012.

According to the National Weather Service minor to moderate coastal flooding with the high tide cycles is possible this morning in low-lying coastal areas along southeastern Connecticut.

Stonington Borough Warden Paul Burgess said there is flooding on Hyde and Maplewood Streets in Stonington Borough. There are also reports of flooding in downtown Mystic especially on the Stonington side of the river.

Here is the forecast as of 9:30 a.m.:

Today: Showers likely, mainly before 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: A chance of rain showers, possibly mixing with snow after 9 p.m., then gradually ending. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
