Video: Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman Visits SHS Shelter

The Red Cross Shelter will remain open for as long as it’s needed.

Connecticut State Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman visited the Red Cross Shelter at Stonington High School this afternoon. Wyman spoke with some of the people taken shelter, with Red Cross Volunteers and with First Selectman Edward Haberek. Watch the videos to hear Wyman and Haberek speak about the power restoration efforts and find out why Wyman is giving Connecticut Light & Power two thumbs up.

As of 3 p.m., 3,363 or 42 percent of Stonington CL&P customers without power down from a high of 70 percent during the winter storm. The Red Cross Shelter will remain open tonight. People should be prepared to provide their own bedding and toiletries. And the Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road in Groton is open for anyone in need of some warmth, a place to plug-in, watch television and/or get some wifi. Showers are available at both the Westerly/Pawcatuck YMCA and the Mystic YMCA. Remember to post what's open and what's closed.
