A Recap Of The Week's Top Stories On Stonington-Mystic Patch

Did you make it to the Stonington Farmers Market yesterday? Local food season has officially begun. In this week’s CT Goes Green column Christine Woodside talks about why local food isn’t just a fad and tells us what local farmers markets are already open and which ones are opening soon.

 Also coming soon are luxury apartments. The 12-already rented apartments at the restored Allen Spool Mill on Willow Street will be ready this August. Breathing new life into the historic building is a local affair. Paul McMasters of Waterford’s 18th Century Restoration Carpentry LLC is the construction supervisor, Stonington’s are the leasing agents, Mystic’s is the landscape architect and Chester’s Stephen Lloyd is the architect.

On Tuesday Pawcatuck Middle School held their spring band concert. The seventh graders played “Journey To The Sea,” an original piece created by Band Director Richard Dumas’s son Curt.

Downtown Pawcatuck is getting a face-lift of sorts. Stonington announced the this week. The five-part plan focuses on entrepreneurship, technology and sustainability.

While, luxury apartments may be coming to Mystic and pride to Pawcatuck some structures have come to Mystic that have . Two trailers atop concrete blocks have gone up at 93 Hewitt Road with approval from the town but not from neighbors.

As the weather gets nicer—keep your fingers crossed, it’s time to think about . Mystic Musings And Happenings columnist Wendy Vincent shared some tips and destinations sure to have us all enjoying a picnic in the near future. Sadly, Wendy will be saying goodbye to the column as she takes on a new role at Patch as the Editor of the East Haddam-Haddam Patch.
