De-mystifying Probate and Estate Planning: Probate Basics

The Mystic & Noank Library is sponsoring a four-part series of talks dealing with probate and estate planning. The first talk, “Understanding Probate,” will be on Tuesday, December 10 at 7 p.m. at the Library. The next talks will be on January 7, February 4 and March 4, 2014.
Probate Judge Nicholas Kepple, along with attorneys Susan Pochal, Ellin Grenger and Kathleen McNamara, will describe the probate court structure in Connecticut.  They will speak on the purpose and responsibilities of the Court, ranging from determining an individual’s ability to manage his or her finances and personal health to dealing with estates after death.
The series is sponsored by the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Probate Court, the Estate and Tax Planning Council of Eastern Connecticut, and the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut. Space is limited, doors open at 6:30 p.m. The series is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Library at (860) 536-7721 or email mnl@juno.com. www.mysticnoanklibrary.org.
