Looking for fun activities for the kids for April vacation? The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has you covered!

We have a different program scheduled for each morning, followed by our Lunch Bunch at noon, and then Outdoor Adventures for each afternoon. A full day of fun throughout April vacation! Ask us about the whole day fees, a real bargain! Call 860-536-1216 to register.

Ponds vs. Pools

Monday April 14

Come explore our pond and vernal pools. Be dressed to possibly get wet and muddy as we search with nets and your hands to collect and compare the creatures we find in each habitat.

Nature Ninjas

Tuesday April 15

Now you see me, now you don’t. Nature Ninjas is all about the adaption of camouflage. Animals use camouflage to conceal themselves from predators or their prey in many different ways. Come learn the ways of how to blend in with your surroundings. Feel free to wear your spots, stripes or camo.

Amazing Eggs

Thursday April 16

9am -12pm

Some are hard, some squishy, and some leathery. You will learn how eggs are similar and different and who lays them. We will also be dying eggs so wear clothes that might get stained. Be ready to play some egg-citing games.

Nature’s Builders

Wednesday April 17 9am -12pm Ages 3-12

There are so many master builders out there in the animal kingdom. Are you as skilled as a Mayfly larva or a spider spinning silk or as busy as a beaver? Learn about some of these amazing nature builders and then let’s see what you can do. We will spend most of our time building different structures outside. Be dressed to be in the woods, water or the mud.

Why not let them stay and play the rest of the day? If your child was signed up for a morning April vacation class you have the option to extend their day. Or just sign them up for the afternoon. We will explore the Nature Center grounds, play exciting and fun games and build with natures supplies. Each day will be different.

Bus Trip to the Bronx Zoo

Thursday, April 17 7:50 am to 7 pm

Led by DPNC Staff for Adult and Family

Members $78/adult $73/child

Enjoy a day out at the zoo! The Bronx Zoo is one of the best in the country and has an amazing variety of animals, from gorillas and giraffes to leopards and lemurs. Your ticket includes admission to the Congo exhibit, Jungle World, the Bug Carousel, the Butterfly Garden and more! Once at the Zoo you will be on your own for the day. There is a cafeteria on site, but you may also pack your own lunch. The bus will NOT stop along the way, so bring snacks for the trip there and back.

NOTE: Bus leaves DPNC at 7:50 a.m. for trip to the zoo and leaves zoo at 4 p.m. for return home.
