Child Struck By Car Had Right Leg Broken

Five-Year-Old Girl Moved To A Regular Floor At Children's Hospital In Providence

Mystic Fire Department Assistant Chief Anthony Manfredi, Jr. confirmed today that the five-year-old girl taken by LifeStar to the Children's Hospital in Providence had both her right tibia and fibula broken as a result of being struck by a car Saturday. 

Manfredi also said the girl has been moved to a regular floor.

The child and her father were using the crosswalk at the intersection Masons Island Road and Route 1 in Mystic on Saturday, May 14, when they were both struck by a car. The girl was transported by LifeStar to Hasbro Children’s Hospital at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence due to the seriousness of her injuries. The Children’s Hospital would not confirm the girl’s condition.

Both the driver of the vehicle and the girl’s father were uninjured.

The incident remains under investigation
