Mystic Middle School Gets a Facelift

Parents and staff are happy with the school's cleaner look.

The recent landscaping at Mystic Middle School has parents pleased and energized about the school's appearance.

"As a taxpayer I'm really happy with what they're doing there," said one parent over the phone.

People described the school's front lawn as overgrown and unattractive before the Highway Department dropped in recently.

They tore up and cut down some large plants and an overgrown garden, according to Assistant Principal Jen Bausch. And what remains is a wide open lawn and hope.

"Maybe now they'll move the garden to the front where it can get some sun," said another parent of the current garden, which she described as "unproductive".

Bausch said they'll plant grass in the dug up spots and for now, people are really enjoying the simplicity of the tidied-up front entrance.
