The full text of the email received from Stonington Public Schools:

"Due to impending forecasting for Thursday January 2nd, Stonington Public Schools will be closed for the day.  A decision will be made tomorrow about Friday,  but this will give parents some time to plan for their child care options. This was a difficult decision to make, but in the safety of students and staff, we feel it is the right one.  Thank you."

North Stonington also canceled classes for Thursday.
