The middle school awards benefit students by infusing technology as a tool for higher level learning and to increase math and/or reading proficiency.

The elementary awards give students the opportunity to achieve the best results possible as part of the yearly CT Physical Fitness Assessment, and to give students a hands on opportunity to learn about science, math, geography, technology, ethics and team work.

SEF encourages Stonington Public Schools teachers and administrators, as well as other members of our community, to apply for an Apple Grant to benefit Stonington Public School students.  To fund the grants, the SEF holds two fundraisers each year.  An annual Community Appeal letter is mailed to many parents and businesses in Stonington and other nearby towns, and a social event called the Education Celebration, recently hosted by the Mystic Aquarium, provides another opportunity for businesses and individuals alike to lend their support toward excellence in our schools.

Additionally, the SEF benefits from "Blue Mondays" concerts held at Mystic River Park.  This summer concert series features world class bands, along with special appearances by some of our own student musicians.   Through the generous support of local businesses and "pass the hat" donations on the nights of the concerts, thousands of dollars were raised each of the last eight years and are funneled directly to music programs at all Stonington public schools.

Since it was incorporated 18 years ago, SEF has raised and distributed more than $450,000.  SEF is a 501(c) 3, all volunteer, non-profit corporation.  To learn more, please visit the SEF website at www.stoningtoneducationfund.net or “Like” us on Facebook.
