Stonington Republican Town Committee Presents Book To High School (With Video)

Book On George Washington Donated To The High School In Memory Of Edward Sullivan

Members of the Stonington Republican Town Committee, school officials and the wife of the late Edward Sullivan gathered in the library of Friday for a presentation and dedication of a book in the memory of Sullivan.

The book Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow is a biography of George Washington first published in the fall of 2010. It was a book that members of the Stonington RTC read and thought donating to the high school would be a way to honor Sullivan who passed away earlier this year.

“I think of Ed Sullivan who is one of my heroes,” said retired U.S. Army Colonel and former U.S. Congressman Rob Simmons.

“The story of giving your life, the story of being a volunteer, the story of being a patriot applies equally to George Washington to Nathan Hale and to Cdr. Ed Sullivan and I just say where lucky to have had heroes like him walk in our streets and serve in our community,” Simmons said.
