Hurricane Irene Town Update - Sunday Morning

Hurricane Irene Town Update - Sunday Morning

Through the night we had a relatively quiet storm, but about 5am we had a call for a tree down and it has been active ever since. We are having multiple trees falling, significant power outages and damage starting to occur. Currently, tides are rising. We are getting tropical wind gusts in anticipation of possible hurricane winds gusts.

We currently have 68 residents in the shelter tonight. We are anticipating more significant power outages for extended duration as many electrical crews are stretched throughout the east coast dealing with Hurricane effects. Currently 59% of CL&P customers are out. Also the possibilities of tornados have been stated.

Please take precautions and stay inside. I look forward to keeping residents updated about forecast and advisories before and through the Hurricane by local media, and personally through my social media sites of Facebook, Twitter and my Blog.
